Situated on the outskirts of the Dresdner Heide (Dresden Heath), Alberstadt is one of Germany’s largest garrison cities. It developed at the end of the 19th century. <br /><br />At nearby Obrichtplatz you find a museum of military history housed within an impressive building. Within walking distance you also find the military academy, the regional council, the custom office and the garrison church whose 90-metre spire towers above its surroundings and offers a wonderful panoramic view of the Elbe Valley.<br /><br />Along Königsbrücker Straße you find an area where parties and events are held in former factory buildings.
